Sydney the hairdresser

I knew the day would come that Sydney would attempt cutting her hair. That day was Wednesday. I was cleaning up dinner, making cookies and on the phone with a work call. Austin was doing his homework and I heard him yell "No Sydney!" I didn't think anything of it and kept on. Renald came home and I left to go to the jail. Renald called me while I was there and asked what happened to Sydneys hair. I had no idea what he was talking about. When I came home I asked Austin what had happened and he told me he saw Sydney cutting her hair and yelled at her but when he noticed that I didn't do anything, he took her hair and hid it under the kitchen table because he thought he and Sydney was going to get in trouble. He reached under the leg of the table and grabed a wad of hair. So now Sydney has a little mullet going on.

Happy Easter

We celebrated Easter on Saturday since Renald had to work on Sunday. The kids colored eggs in the morning and later that day, Austin took the kids around the block(pushing Ty of course) a few times while we hid the eggs in the backyard. They came back and did the Easter egg hunt and found their baskets. On Sunday the kids put on their new Easter clothes and we headed to church. Austin has been really helpful and has been pushing Ty where ever we go.

Its raining logs!

For spring break our family planned a trip to the Anderson's cabin up past Snowville. We packed our ATV's and headed out on Thursday. We pulled in and got a tour of the cabin. While we were inside, the kids went out to play and no sooner did I hear a thump and so I looked out the window and saw Tyson on the ground crying. While he was outside he was standing under a swing that was held up with some big logs. While some kids were swinging, the swing broke and the log fell and happened to land right on Tysons leg (this is according to the kids outside). I carried him in, he wouldn't put any weight on his leg, nor would he straighten it out. We waited for a half hour to see if he got better. He didn't so we packed the kids back up and headed back for home. We enjoyed about 45 minutes of our trip there. We got back to Logan and went to the Insta Care. I waited in the waiting room for about an hour and finally got called back. They took X-rays but had to straighten his leg to get them. The nurse had to hold him down while I went and pushed the buttons for the X-rays. It turns out he broke his tibia or fibia(the biggest bone) right in half. The next day we took him to the Hospital and got his leg casted. He picked red. The next day we got a wheel chair and took the kids to the Baby Animal Days but forgot our camera. The kids had a really good time (even Tyson forgot about his pain for a couple hours). I was really grateful Renald was home for the weekend to help carry Tyson around. He will be in a cast for 6 wks and cannot put any weight on it the entire time. He goes back to get X-rays on Thursday to make sure he doesn't need to be operated on and make sure it heals right. We have our fingers crossed!

Lake Powell in March??

The boys went on a boys trip to Lake Powell to check out Renald parents and sisters houseboat. They also went there with Renald's cousin Gary and his son Ryan. I'm not to sure what they did but the kids had a good time. I stayed in Richfield with the women and was completely pampered. I brought down my levi quilt that I had been working on for the last 3 years. Linda showed me how to tie it and binded it for me.

Austins classical recital

Austin had his third piano recital. He played a Minature sonatina. He did an excellent job.

Happy Valentines Day

On valentines day, it is a tradition to make sugar cookies and this year was the first year all of the kids were able to roll and cut their own cookie dough all by themselves. I was actually pretty amazed how well Tyson and Sydney did. That night Renald suprised us by coming home a little earlier and suprising the kids with some valentines!

Christmas

On Christmas Eve, we went to the annual Christmas Eve dinner at Grandpa and Grandma Folkman's. After dinner the grandkids got to open their present from the grandparents. All the kids got bouncing balls, and they all loved them. We we got home, they got their new pj's and went to bed. Tyson was so excited for Santa to come. Austin was so good to read Christmas stories to Tyson before bed. Watching the kids open their presents on Christmas morning is about the funnest thing for us to watch. Sydney didn't care what she got as long as it was pink! We decided not to go to Richfield until New Years weekend, so we were able to really relax and play with toys on Christmas Day! It was great. On Saturday, we planned to go skiing, but Renald ended up having to go to work that morning. The boys really wanted to go (and so did I), so I called up Danielle (my favorite babysitter) to ski with Austin, and we still went for a half day.
